Worthing Town Hall will be joining churches across the borough this D-Day for a co-ordinated bell-ringing event.

At 6.30pm on Thursday, 6th June bells will ring out at the town hall as well as at St Andrew’s in Tarring, St Botolph’s in Heene, St Mary’s in Broadwater, St Mary’s in Goring and All Saints Findon Valley.

This year marks the 80th anniversary of the Normandy landings on 6 June 1944, with a series of major commemorations and events planned across the UK and in France.

At Lancing Parish Hall there will be afternoon tea and entertainment provided by Lancing Parish Council from 2pm to 4pm, as well as a special proclamation by the Worthing & Adur Town Crier – Bob Smytherman and the raising of a D-Day flag.

In Shoreham there will be a beacon lighting ceremony at Shoreham Fort at 9.15pm, with hot and cold drinks and ice creams available to purchase.
